A massive Thank You to Nicole Miller (https://exploreyourcoast.co.nz/) for an amazing evening on the 19th July. Nicole has shared her insightful and inspiring documentary, showing the damage Kina can make basically erasing Seaweed population around Wellington Harbour. This has a massive impact on the ecosystem, and we can all help to restore and protect the underwater-layer of our playground, and with it its diversity. Nicole also brought some of her beautiful art with her, and…

The what and the why We all use the harbour and the ocean as our play- and sportsground, a place to soothe our souls and relax, sometimes even as a bar or social location, so it’s only fair if we look after this precious environment. That’s where the Clean Club programme comes in. This is an initiative to combine efforts around the country (and in association: the world), lead by YNZ and executed by Sailing Clubs and its members – us. It provides structure, guidance and rewards so we all can contribute in a useful and effective way. It also aligns…

Awarding someone the Personality of the Year is a satisfying task to do, but also tricky with all the great humans we have in the Club. Spoilt for choices I do believe though that it is the right one. So let’s gets on… The personality for the year 2022 is relatively new to the club and sailing, but has made a big impact since joining. They have contributed a lot of their spare time already on and off the water, more often than not behind the scenes. We believe this recognition is well deserved despite the short timeframe of being…

The Volunteer of the Year Award is awarded to the many dedicated RPNYC volunteers that without each and everyone of these dedicated members, our club activities would not survive. Attributes of generosity, humility, just getting on with it without fuss or fanfare are typical attributes of volunteers who support our club and are passionate to ensure its success. The Volunteer of the Year Award is given each year to a volunteer who shows these attributes and makes a significant contribution to the running of our club. Every year, it is very difficult to choose a person to award this trophy…
